Get ready to return to the 80s in November 2017! Abstract Entertainment and Hope Estate is proud to announce five of the biggest 80s International music acts Paul Young, Go West, The Cutting Crew, Wang Chung and Taylor Dayne will be joined by Australia’s own John Paul Young and the Allstars, Pseudo Echo and The Chantoozies for an unforgettable 80s Fest in the Hunter Valley on Saturday, 4 November.
The incredible lineup features some of the best artists of the era!
Paul Young: Paul Young is best remembered for his unique singing voice that had a distinct tone. His hit singles included Love of the Common People, Wherever I Lay My Hat, Come Back and Stay, Everytime You Go Away and Everything Must Change, all reaching the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. He won a Brit Award in 1985 for Best Male Artist.
Go West: the much loved duo Peter Cox and Richard Drummie enjoyed massive international success with hits such as We Close Our Eyes, Call Me and Don’t Look Down. Their biggest hit was The King Of Wishful Thinking which featured on the soundtrack to Pretty Woman and was a US Top 10 Hit.
Taylor Dayne: The only American on the tour, Taylor Dayne’s hits included Tell It To My Heart, Prove Your Love, I’ll Be Your Shelter and Love Will Lead You Back – which went #1 on the Billboard charts. Taylor Dayne is also an actress – having appeared on the TV show Nightman and on Broadway in 2001 Elton John Production Aida.
Wang Chung: This English new wave band formed in the early 80s but enjoyed their biggest success in the mid 80s with songs such as Let’s Go!, Everybody Have Fun Tonight and Hypnotize me. The phrase Everybody Wang Chung Tonight became a popular phrase in the 80s and is still recognized now! It has been referenced on various TV shows and movies including The Simpsons, Cheers, Veronica Mars, That 70s Show, The Spy Who Shagged Me and so many more.
Cutting Crew: This English rock band formed in 1985 and are best remembered for songs such as (I Just) Died in Your Arms, I’ve Been in Love Before, One for the Mockingbird, and Everything But My Pride.

John Paul Young and the Allstars: JPY is surely one of Australia’s most loved and iconic music acts. The Scottish born singer/songwriter enjoyed worldwide chart success in the 1970s with Love Is In The Air – still one of the most requested and loved songs in the Australian songbook. His long association with Vanda and Young have produced some of Australia’s most recognized songs including Love Is in the Air, Yesterday’s Hero, I Hate the Music and “Standing in the Rain. He was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2009 and continues to tour and perform across Australia.
Pseudo Echo: Pseudo Echo are best remembered for their synthesized pop songs that put Melbourne pop music on the map! In the 1980s, Pseudo Echo had Australian top 20 hits with Listening, A Beat for You, Don’t Go, Love an Adventure, Living in a Dream and their cover of Funky Town (from Lipps Inc.), which peaked at No. 1 in 1986. In 1987, it reached No. 1 in Canada and New Zealand, No. 6 in United States and No. 8 in United Kingdom.
The Chantoozies: The Chantoozies were one of our favourite female pop bands of the 80s with songs such as Wanna Be Up, Witch Queen, He’s Gonna Step On You Again and Baby It’s You. The current lineup features three of the four girls – Totti Goldsmith, Ally Fowler and Eve Von Bibra.
