When you exit the Hunter Valley at Lovedale Road and turn left you have arrived in Lovedale, a relaxed neighbourhood east of Pokolbin. The winding country roads are lined with cellar doors, eateries and an eclectic collection of places to stay – pick up a copy of the Tour De Lovedale map and follow the self drive route. It is also home to mobs of kangaroos and wallabies, and the Lovedale Long Lunch, which takes place on the third weekend in May each year.
Adina Vineyard and Olive Grove
Adina Vineyard is located in Lovedale, only 5 kms from the start of Lovedale Road near the Visitor’s Centre. Adina are well known for our award winning wines including some of the finest Shiraz in the Hunter, complemented by farm fresh estate grown olives, oils and tapenades. The cellar door is open every day for tastings and sales. Open Daily 10am to 5pm.
Allandale Winery
Established in 1978, Allandale Winery’s 30 year history is a story of growth and success. Allandale has created an acclaimed portfolio of wines made from their own and selected vineyards in the Hunter Valley, Mudgee, Orange region, Hilltops, Goulbourn Valley and McLaren Vale areas 0f Australia.
In 30 years the winery has only ever had two winemakers. Bill Sneddon began his career in winemaking in 1983 at Allandale and became the Chief Winemaker in 1986. Vintage after vintage he and the team at Allandale have been responsible for producing hundreds of award winning wines.
Bill worked a vintage in the Napa Valley in California and whilst there visited many other wine growing areas in California. He has also travelled extensively in the Burgundy and Rhône regions of France. Bill’s philosophy is to focus on producing new world wines of distinctive quality drawing on the values of old world styles.
Allandale makes all of its wines on-site using state-of-the-art winemaking equipment. The wines are of the highest quality and consistency, renowned for their distinctive varietal characters and superb balance of flavours.
While tasting the wines you can enjoy the local artwork exhibited and the panoramic view across the vineyards to the Brokenback Ranges. The friendly staff at Allandale are ready to make you feel welcome. Open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Andevine Wines
Andrew Leembruggen has been making internationally awarded wines for more than 15 years. His Andevine Wines are handcrafted to exhibit floral aromas and delicate flavours, and are 100% grown and made in the Hunter Valley. The cellar door combines the best of modern comfort, old-world charm and friendly service. Open Friday to Monday 10am to 5pm.
Capercaillie Wine
Capercaillie’s ambition is to remain a small winery which is focused entirely upon the creation of premium quality wines. To enhance the range of individual Hunter Valley Wines we select parcels of grapes from other proven regions of Australia, creating exciting multi-area blends which highlight climatic and varietal differences.
Critics and judges alike recognise the high standard Capercaillie maintains in their quest for distinctive and innovative wines. Capercaillie is focused on the creation of premium quality wines. Varieties include the Hunter Classics, Multi-regional blends and a range of sparkling and sweet dessert styles.
To enhance their already extensive range of individual Hunter Valley wines, Capercaillie has chosen top quality parcels of grapes from other proven regions of Australia. This creates exciting multi-area blends which highlight climatic and varietal differences. Wine production capped at 5000 cases a year, ensures the highest quality standards. Emma’s Cottage Vineyard
Try estate-grown wines, including sparkling and liqueur wines and this friendly family owned cellar door. You can also browse the adjoining art gallery with original works by Megan Barras, a well-known local artist. Open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Gartelmann Wines
Founded in 1996 in the beautiful Lovedale area of the Hunter Valley, Gartelmann is a winner of many Wine Show Trophies and hundreds of medals. The business was established by Jan and Jorg Gartelmann with their acquisition of the George Hunter Estate, the oldest vineyard in Lovedale.
In 2007, after 11 years as both a grape grower and a wine producer, the Gartelmann business entered a new phase of development with a change of licence. Gartelmann is now positioned solely as a premium winemaker, sourcing top quality fruit from the best Hunter Valley vineyard sites .Open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Tellace Wines
Just outside the hustle and bustle of Central Pokolbin is the vey picturesque Tellace Wines. Set amongst gorgeous gardens is a cosy Cellar door with a fire place for winter and in summer sit out on the wide verandahs and sample some wines grown on the property.
We have boutique beer on tap if you are “wined out” and you can sit on our spacious verandah and watch the birds and kangaroos while enjoying a quiet coldie.
