The 2010-2011 growing season saw mild to almost perfect moisture conditions throughout Budburst and continued dry. A hot and dry Summer, with late harvested Semillon, hand picked in the milder days of mid March.
Made from late harvested, super-ripe Semillon fruit with natural Botrytis Cinerea (Noble Rot), the vines are cordon cut to concentrate the fruit sweetness and preserve the fresh natural acid. Hand picking with three sweeps through the vineyard selecting only the ripest berries. The grapes are then crushed, pressed, and chilled then returned to the press to dissolve the crystalised sugars from the skins for extra intensity and flavour weight. This wine was matured for 8 months in new and one year old French barrels adding background vanilla allure and length.
The Keith Tulloch 2011 Botrytis Semillon is bright yellow/gold with a vibrant green rim. It has concentrated aromas of cumquat and citrus fill the glass, with full apricot and toffee complexity.
This sweet white has been aged in fine French oak for 12 months, adding subtle perfumed notes of spice and vanilla-bean. The palate is beautifully concentrated with velvet intensity and bright freshness, this deluxe wine has mouth-filling richness and length.
