Keith Tulloch Wines are hand-made with meticulous care and epitomise the best qualities of Hunter Valley wine. All wines have the style, balance, structure and integrity necessary for graceful maturation and cellaring. Winery production is very limited, with a combined output of only 12,000 dozen per year. For Keith the greatest reward has been found – making his own wines with a unique stamp of personality, power and integrity – away from the mainstream and with an individual style and flair.

Overcast and unsettled weather throughout late Spring, with a mild and sunny December. Perfect mild and sunny conditions in mid January, with slower ripening, but good fruit condition. The decision to pick on January 27th, held on a knife edge as the rains were forecast with La Nina influence for the remainder of Summer. And rain. Did it!
The Chardonnay grapes were harvested at daybreak; after crushing and pressing, the new free-run juice was chilled in stainless steel tanks. This juice was then transferred to a mix of old and new deluxe French oak for fermentation. A combination of wild and pure yeasts were used and once fermentation was complete the wine was left on yeast lees for six weeks. Batonage (lees-stirring) was practiced to increase the new wine contact with the creamy lees sediment.
Keith Tulloch Chardonnays do not undergo malolactic fermentation, and are oak matured for approximately 12 weeks prior to blending.
Bright, light straw colours with luminous green freshness. This wine has rich, complex barrel ferment aromas and loads of personality. Cool mild vintage characters show white peach, white melon and fig perfume, with fine oak giving beautiful support. The “wild-ferment” builds extra elements of fume; elegant smoky spice, struck match, and flint/mineral thread gracefully in the background.
The aromatic characters repeat with great impression on the palate. This very fine Hunter Chardonnay has nectarine, citrus, white peach and honeydew melon flavours with elegant and sustaining brightness.
Full of texture, the flavours are fresh and long with crisp refreshing acidity throughout. The barrel ferment complexity and wild-ferment spiciness provide richness & produce a velvety balance to this wine.
