SHIRAZ NOIR 2010 (The Black Shiraz) A love letter to film noir sealed with a kiss, Shiraz Noir reteams director Peter Steer with The Vintry producer Greg Mincher in a beautiful homage to the cinematic era of stylish Hollywood crime dramas. Film noir was Hollywood’s classic film period stretching from the early 1940’s to the late 1950’s.
Shiraz Noir will probably be best remembered for the debut performance of Summer Raines as femme fatale Edwina (Eddie) Brooks, head of, and heir to, H.J. Brooks & Co. Publishing.
Deep and dark with a purple red hue showing youthfulness and spirit, with long legs. She wants to be wanted. Very feminine nose. Fragrant, perfumed, alluring and seductive. Rose petal, lifting to truffle, mocha and chocolate notes. Rich and opulent with a touch of spice. She catches your attention, then draws you in with a sultry, knowing, smokiness that has you wanting more. Eddie is wanted by men and desired by women.
Dixon Maguire (Matt Taro) a firm jawed, leading man type, wine writer and editor for H.J. Brooks & Co. is somewhat disillusioned that after 20 years his employer fails to recognise him for anything more than his editorial skills. It is in this frame of mind that Dixon is taken back by Ms. Brooks’ casual remarks expecting a manuscript on her desk in the morning as she heads out the door with her latest love interest.
